My friend Elena invited me to spend this weekend with her in Frankfurt, Germany, where she moved some months ago. I met Elena in Madrid, more than 11 years ago. We were both volunteers at one of the local animal shelters. She was my first friend when I first arrived to Spain.
As in most friendships, life do not always take you to the same places, so the years went by, along with new relationships, houses, jobs or addictions.
These last years, due to all the longboard insanity, I could not spend as much time with her -or any of my friends- as I would have liked to. So this weekend, besides having completely different lives, habits and even points of view, we hanged out together and we had a blast.
We talked, eat, shopped, laughed and danced. Rode bikes, gossiped, cooked, chased trains, messed with each other and eat some more.
So the thing is; that no matter where life takes you, your true friends, will always be your friends. You only have to find some time and make it work.
